“An Inspiring and Expressive Collection. The Dairy Hollow Echo is a collective masterpiece of various writers from the Writer’s Colony retreat in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The depth and variety of the collection is impressive and truly an explosion of creativity. From poetry to flash fiction, the collection contains a wide selection of voices and perspectives from across the world. The collection is organized well, with the changes in emotion of the writing flowing well into one another. Quite a few of the pieces resonated and also piqued our interest to see what next the authors have in store. Overall, the writing is very well edited and presented making for an enjoyable reading process and shows a dedication to the art and writing process which any reader will be sure to enjoy.”

“I have read so many annual anthologies of the so called ‘Best Creative Writing’ published in the literary world and always end up feeling like someone has picked my pocket. Much of the work in many anthologies is dry, distant, and even boring at times. The Dairy Hollow Echo doesn’t adhere to the academic proposition that traditional norms and styles are more important than content. This anthology does not exclude work that breaks with tradition and that is why it is such an effective book. There are many great prose pieces and poems in here. Two of my favorites were Nikki Hanna’s Dancin’ Ho and Morris McCorvey’s Rosebuds.”

“The stories and the poems are richly varied in themes and techniques of writing, and each entry makes an impression that often encourages the reader to explore further works by the favored author. An example of one of the poems follows:
I Want to Nurse at Your Breath - by Bill McCloud
I want to nurse at your breath
I want to love at your heart
heal at your hands
live through your eyes
travel near your feet
learn at your head
I want to dream at your sleep
I want to nurse to your breathThe variety is broad, and the appeal is universal. This is a fine introduction to fresh talent, well worth exploring.”

“The Dairy Hollow Echo: An Anthology of Selected Works from eMerge, the Online Magazine of the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow by Charles L. Templeton is an eloquent effort and concept. It's a compilation of stories and poems from the writers, poets and members of Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, specifically pieces published in their online magazine - eMerge.
There is something for everybody in this formidable book. You may find yourself relating to pieces you never thought you might relate to. There is a lot of really good work to check out. And the best part of this initiative is that this book and the online magazine, and also the writers' society, serves to do some very noble work. It puts writers and poets in touch with potential audiences. Something that isn't easy; I can vouch for it being a freelance writer myself. Finding the right audience and connecting with them isn't easy, but the Writers' Colony manages to bring writers and readers onto one platform, allowing the creatives to share their work with those who appreciate it.”
