Cauliflower is Undefeated

(This poem was based on the first chapter of Boot, The Kootchie is Undefeated. After a discussion on the viability of Kootchie being an inappropriate word for poetry, being too tangible, it was decided that Cauliflower would be a suitable substitute. Like the Kootchie, Cauliflower is not often romanticized in poetry.)

Eve took a bite from that apple

And turned the world upside down

Didn’t take a New York minute

For Adam to follow suit

And just who was it

That opened Pandora’s Box?

And why?

Maybe it was to get Epimetheus off the couch

Cleopatra tamed the mighty Caesar

Had that Roman st-st-stammering,

Then turned iron hard Antoninus

Into a wiggly worm

Jesus, hanging from that tree

Looked down and who did he see?

It damned sure wasn’t dad

It was mom

Such is history

Napoleon and Josephine

Edward and Wallis

Juan and Eva

Gertrude and Alice

Maybe old Sojourner told the

Truth

Cauliflower is often scored upon but

Cauliflower is Undefeated
